Starck designed the Kong Barstool with only one arm so the supermodel clientele of Kong restaurant in Paris could slither gracefully in and out from behind the bar. For this Kong Armchair Philippe gleened inspiration from the furniture in the Palace of Versailles, evident from the shape of the chair back, yet his choice of material gives the armchair a sleek, modern appeal.
